I grew up eating a lot of Applebee’s food, but that was when I was able to handle getting boneless buffalo wings and pretty much drinking down the ranch or blue cheese dressing that came with it. That was probably a “meal” that got over 1,000 calories, and that was just an appetizer special.
Today I got an email that was advertising a couple of new items on the Applebee’s menu. Each of these meals are under 550 calories and neither of them is that expensive.
Zesty Roma Chicken and Shrimp
The first meal that they had listed was the new Zesty Roma Chicken and Shrimp.
According to the website this new meal is : Juicy grilled chicken breast, blackened shrimp and Parmesan. Served over crispy red potatoes, zucchini, red onions, Roma tomatoes, basil and peppers. Our zesty tomato sauce gives it a kick.
This one is a good low cal, high protein, and low carb type meal. Most of the locations should have this for $10.99
The cheaper meal is the all new Napa Chicken and Portobellos.
The description from the website is: A grilled chicken breast topped with portobello mushrooms and onions smothered in a rich red wine sauce and Parmesan cheese. Served over sautéed zucchini, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, red onions and crispy red potatoes.
Again, another low cal, high protein and low carb restaurant meal. This one is going for $9.99 at most locations.
These are some decent prices for meals that look like they are healthier alternatives to most chain restaurant offerings. Please leave me some comments to let me know if these meals were as good as the pictures make them look.
